Puntaa Pty Ltd (ACN 601 575 240) (“Picklebet”, “we”, “us”) is required to verify your age and identity before we can open a Picklebet account for you, and to re-verify your identity from time to time during the lifetime of your account. This Notice explains what Personal Information (as defined in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth)) we collect to do this, how our identity verification checks work, how you consent to them, and the choices available to you.
By submitting a Picklebet account opening request through our platform, you consent to us collecting, using and disclosing the Personal Information you provide for the purpose of verifying your age and identity. If you would prefer that we do not verify your identity as described in this Notice, do not submit an account opening request through our platform. Instead, contact our Customer Support team first at support@picklebet.com and we can discuss other options with you (see the Verify My Identity article on our helpdesk).
Why we collect your Personal Information
We collect and use your Personal Information to:
establish and verify your age and identity to meet our obligations under the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Act 2006 (Cth) (the “AML/CTF Act”); and
assess and manage money laundering and terrorism financing risks associated with providing our products and services.
What Personal Information we collect
When you open a Picklebet account, we ask for your full name, current residential address and date of birth. Our Privacy Policy explains what other information we collect for customer due diligence and other legitimate business purposes and how we use it.
How the Checks work
We use an identity verification service provider to verify your age and identity, which includes matching services provided by credit reporting bodies: Equifax Pty Ltd (“Equifax”) and Experian Australia Pty Ltd (“Illion”). We call these identity verification checks the “Checks”. When we verify your identity:
we disclose your name, residential address and date of birth to our identity verification service provider, who submits it to a credit reporting body on our behalf;
we ask the credit reporting body to assess whether that information matches (in whole or in part) Personal Information it holds; and
the credit reporting body provides us with an overall assessment of the extent of the match only.
We do not receive any credit-related information about you from the Checks, and the Checks are not used to assess your creditworthiness. Each credit reporting body handles your Personal Information in accordance with its own privacy policy:
Equifax - Privacy Policy (Australia); and
Illion - Experian Australia Privacy Policy.
What happens if we cannot verify your identity
If we are unable to verify your identity using the Checks, we will notify you via email and offer you an alternative means of verification. Until your identity is verified or re-verified:
we cannot open a new Picklebet account for you; and
any existing Picklebet account may be restricted, including your ability to deposit funds, place bets or withdraw winnings.
Who we share your information with
We share the Personal Information you provide us with to our identity verification service. Our identity verification service provider passes it on to the credit reporting bodies on our behalf for the purpose of completing the Checks.
Access, correction and complaints
Our Privacy Policy explains how you can access and correct your Personal Information, how to make a privacy complaint, and how we deal with complaints.
